Modernizing Alberta's Land Titles Registry

Presented by the CBA Alberta Real Property Law Commercial & Residential Sections

Land ownership is the largest investment most Albertans will ever make, and a critical driver for the economy. Albertans depend on land titles transactions being processed quickly and accurately. Since its inception, Land Titles and Surveys (LTS) has strived to achieve excellence in the delivery of land registration and information services to Albertans. The essential work underway to replace and modernize technology and registration processes will give LTS the capacity to continually innovate and improve services into the future. We are currently seeking feedback from legal professionals on submission processes for the new Alberta Land Titles Regsitry system, Alberta Registry for Land Online (ARLO). The new system will introduce updated submission, examination, and registration functions, with select document types expected to be submitted by lawyers in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta starting in late 2026.

This session will outline proposed submission processes for land titles and walk through different options under consideration. Real estate lawyers practicing in Alberta are invited to provide feedback to help shape ARLO’s development and support decision-making.

Make sure to attend if you're interested in seeing what’s planned and contributing to the future of land title registration in Alberta.
