How the Building Canada Act Works

The recently enacted Building Canada Act allows the federal Cabinet to declare infrastructure projects as being in the national interest and thereby guaranteeing that various federal authorizations will be granted to a project proponent provided the Act is followed and the relevant provinces and territories, as well as Indigenous people who may be adversely affected, are consulted. This presentation looks into how the Building Canada Act works and discusses the benefits and challenges of projects being declared to be in the national interest.
