How the Heck Can I Get My Matter to Trial?
Presented by the CBA Alberta Labour & Employment Law South Section
Let’s face it: when it comes to litigating disputes, it can be tricky to figure out the best way to get an actual decision from the Court. Should you try for summary judgment? Should you proceed through the traditional litigation process and wait for available trial dates? Is a streamlined trial the way to go? What about the Court’s pilot project for setting civil trial dates by order? Alex Norris and Joel Fairbrother will explore the evolving landscape of civil trials in Alberta. We'll look at why delays in scheduling trials are a persistent challenge, how recent rule changes are reshaping the process, and what the future holds with new streamlined trial rules and the Court’s pilot project. Join us to learn from our recent experiences (and challenges!), feel bring your own tips and tricks, and together we will discuss how the heck to get our matters to trial!
