Unlocking the Mystery of Business Valuation
Presented by the CBA Alberta Taxation Law (North) Section
Let’s be honest: business valuation doesn’t always have the reputation of being the most thrilling topic on the docket. But Sarah Gibson and Michael Nazarevich— two seasoned Chartered Business Valuators from KPMG — are here to change that.
In this engaging session, they’ll demystify valuation by walking through the essentials: the different types of valuation reports, the main approaches to value, and the key principles that underpin every opinion. You’ll explore the “value levers” that can move the needle in a business and uncover common misconceptions that trip up even experienced professionals. Along the way, Sarah and Michael will highlight the different situations in which a valuation may be required, why “price” and “value” aren’t the same thing and the difference between personal and commercial goodwill.
Expect practical insights and plenty of illustrative examples. We’ll wrap up with a Q&A session where no valuation question is off-limits.
