Energy Security: A European Perspective
Presented by the CBA Alberta Natural Resources (South) Section
Amidst the unprecedented oil disruption resulting from the spiralling war in Iran, we will look at how the European Union has approached the topic of energy security and what the implications are of the EU’s energy policy for Alberta, Western Canada and Canada more generally. Professor Leigh Hancher (Professor of European Law at the University of Tilburg, the Netherlands, part-time Professor responsible for EU Energy Law and Policy at the Florence School of Regulation of the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, and Senior Advisor at Baker Botts LLP in Brussels) and Associate Professor Rudiger Tscherning (University of Calgary, School of Public Policy & Faculty of Law) will unpack the energy security debate within the context of natural gas, hydrogen, critical minerals and nuclear fuel security and explore how Canada and the EU can better align on these matters.
