Synopsis

The Constitutional and Civil Liberties Section invite you to join us to hear from Gareth Morley, counsel involved in the constitutional challenge to Canada’s Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act. After references in the Saskatchewan and Ontario courts that upheld the federal legislation, Attorney General of Ontario v. Attorney General of Canada is currently before the Supreme Court of Canada. Counsel will present on the issues arising and the implications of the federal environmental legislation and the provincial challenges to it, and whether we must choose between federalism and confronting climate change. 

Attendees in Vancouver are invited to participate by joining the group viewing via video conference at the Courthouse Library - Vancouver, Fraser Boardroom hosted by Lisa Glowacki.

Attendees are invited and encouraged to bring a lunch to this session.
