Overview of Important Coverage Decisions

This presentation will provide a review of recent B.C. Court of Appeal insurance coverage decisions, with practical pointers on defending insurers in coverage litigation:

  1. West Van Holdings Ltd. v. Economical Mutual Insurance Company, 2019 BCCA 110;
  2. Tanious v. The Empire Life Insurance Company, 2019 BCCA 329;
  3. Economical Mutual Insurance Company v. Optimum West Insurance Company Inc., 2019 BCCA 184;
  4. Economical Mutual Insurance Company v. Gill, 2017 BCCA 351; and
  5. Practical pointers on defending insurers in coverage litigation.
