This meeting is being hosted by the Natural Resources Law Section.

Speaker(s): Patricio Cumming, PAIG Impact
Vasilis Pappas, Bennett Jones LLP
Time: Wednesday, May 18, 2022, 12:00pm - 1:00pm (PT)
CPD Hours: 1.00 hour
Synopsis

A rising wave of populism, coupled with economic challenges exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, and a renewed focus on social issues has paved the way for the re-emergence of resource nationalism in many countries.

Please join Patricio Cumming of PAIG Impact and Vasilis Pappas of Bennett Jones LLP as they provide an update on some of the policy and legal decisions in these countries that may impact Canadian based mining companies. There will also be an interactive discussion about steps those companies can take to protect themselves.

Territorial Acknowledgement
This event will be broadcast from the traditional and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples, including Tsleil-Waututh, Squamish and Musqueam First Nations. We encourage members to explore the rich history and knowledge of Indigenous people, and to continue learning about their experience in Canada past and present.
