Synopsis

In August 2021, BC’s Human Rights Commissioner initiated an inquiry into the rise of hate during the COVID-19 pandemic in response to the significant increase in reported hate related incidents. In March of this year, the Commissioner released the final report of the inquiry, which found that while hate plays an increasingly destructive role in our communities, we are not without a path forward.

Kasari Govender, BC Human Rights Commissioner, joined by Carly Hyman, acting general counsel, speak about the report initiated by the inquiry into the rise of hate during the COVID-19 pandemic in response to the significant increase in reported hate related incidents, and the recommendations for reforms.
