ONLINE MEETING: Excluded Property in Family Law
This meeting is being hosted by the Family Law - Fraser Valley Section.

Time: Monday, May 13, 2024, 12:00pm - 1:00pm (PT).
CPD Hours: 1.00 hour
Synopsis

There has been significant discussion surrounding the law concerning excluded family property. A majority of case law has established that a spouse loses their exclusion when they transfer title to the other spouse and it is seen as a ‘gift’. However, certain cases have upheld the maintenance of the exclusion. These varying outcomes have led to amendments to the Family Law Act respecting excluded property. Todd Bell offers insights into the recent amendments addressing excluded property within family law.
