About Jay Krushell
Jay Krushell is the Co-Founder, Chief Legal Officer and VP of Business Development of Treefort Technologies, an Edmonton based cybersecurity digital identity technology company that is a Canadian leader in multi-factor identity authentication. Before Treefort Technologies, Jay was a Partner at Witten LLP in Edmonton where he practiced in commercial real estate.

To provide better customer service to his legal clients Jay became interested in technology. The first technology he Co-Founded and developed was a commercial lending software platform that dramatically sped up the process of producing all legal documents for commercial loans called Lending Assist. After successfully rolling this technology out to law firms across Alberta he brokered a sale of Lending Assist in 2021. By then, Jay had become interested in building a new product, a video meeting system that would allow lawyers to meet with their clients remotely and sign all documents in compliance with law society rules. This eventually morphed into a new company, Treefort Technologies in 2020.

In 2021, he negotiated a deal with Stewart Title Guaranty Canada to purchase a majority interest in Treefort, and as a part of this deal Jay left his legal practice of 23 years and became a full-time employee of Treefort.  Jay has always been attracted to building things starting with tree forts on his family’s farm and today building technology. Jay studied business in university graduating with a business degree and then a law degree and MBA from the University of Alberta.  Taking on the role of both Chief Legal Officer and Vice President of Business Development for Treefort Technologies allows Jay to focus on his passion for building and making sensitive online transactions simple and secure for everyone achieving real trust online.
