The Family Law Committee is developing a best practices resource to consider possible legislative reform submissions in the area of family law arbitrations. The committee is gathering feedback on the following questions:

  • What aspects of family law arbitration processes and enforcement of arbitration awards have worked well for lawyers?
  • What challenges or difficulties have lawyers encountered in family law arbitrations?
  • What gaps or areas for improvement exist within the arbitration provisions of the Family Law Act?
  • What "workarounds" or practical solutions have lawyers used to address challenges in family law arbitrations?

Register for one of our engagement sessions between October 28 and November 7 to discuss and share feedback on your experiences in enforcing arbitration orders. If you cannot attend a virtual session, please email your feedback to advocacy@cbabc.org by November 14. Your insights are much appreciated and will be considered in developing our best practices resource.
