About the Speakers

Allison Morrell is a Knowledge and Legal Operations Lawyer with Dentons Canada LLP. Allison supports practice groups in identifying and implementing opportunities for innovation in the delivery of legal services. Their work includes legal technology strategy and implementation, including the effective and appropriate use of AI technologies.

Jacob Kojfman is Senior Legal Counsel at the Co-operators Group Ltd., where he reviews, drafts, and negotiates high risk critical tech-related agreements, and coaches and mentors junior lawyers. Previously he was Senior Legal Counsel at a global-IT services company, supporting a number of business units. In October 2022 he was a panelist at the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC)’s 2022 Annual Meeting on “IP Issues in Commercial Transactions”, along with panels on SAAS and tech contracts on two other occasions. In 2021 he authored a very popular ACC article “Top Ten Issues and Tips to Consider When Negotiating Contracts for Cloud Solutions.” He completed the “Certificate in Drafting and Negotiating IT Agreements” in 2017, and was asked to join faculty for that CLE. He is a skilled, creative and entertaining presenter.

He conceived the ACCAM23 panel “IP Trivia Night”, a game show based on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” creating questions based on current events with an IP connection to educate lawyers about IP issues, and has presented it a number of other CLE events.Jacob’s spent the majority of his career in-house, in a variety of settings, making almost every mistake along the way. He is a mentor in a number of formal lawyer mentoring programs to help other lawyers avoid the mistakes he made and thrive in their organizations. Outside of work, he coaches his daughter’s U12 soccer team, is an avid poker player, reader and Peloton rider.
