Please join us for an informative panel discussion on gender equality in the workplace with Dr. Maureen Fitzgerald, gender diversity advisor, former lawyer and author, and Anne Nickerson, Director of the City of Vancouver's Equal Employment Opportunity Program.

Dr. Maureen F. Fitzgerald, PhD, JD, LLM, BComm is a Gender Diversity Advisor. She practiced law for 20 years and has written eleven books, many articles and hundreds of blogs. She has a business degree, a law degree, a master of law degree from the London School of Economics and a doctorate degree. In her former life, Maureen was a policy lawyer, mediator and professor at two universities. As a leader of thoughts and people, Maureen writes and speaks often about social justice, equality and mindfulness. Her motto is: Sharing the right ideas at the right time can change the world. Anne Nickerson, CPHR, is the Director, Equal Employment Opportunity, Human Resources with the City of Vancouver. As Director of the City’s Equal Employment Opportunity Program (EEO), Anne provides oversight, training and guidance on issues related to the informal and formal resolution of harassment issues and human rights, diversity and inclusion, and employment and service equity.  The office works internally with City staff, managers, and unions, as well as externally through outreach and consultation with community groups and external stakeholders. Most recent accomplishments include the development and launch of Vancouver: A City for All Women, Women’s Equity Strategy 2018-2028 and ongoing actions related to Trans, Gender Variant and Two-Spirit inclusion. Anne has many years of experience in the field of Human Resources, both as a generalist and as a Manager.  She is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) with specific expertise in fostering respectful workplaces, increasing cultural competency and building collaborative partnerships.
