Trusts and estates involve complex tax rules that can significantly impact beneficiaries and trustees. Kathy Logan provides an overview of common and avoidable tax issues she has encountered that arise in the context of wills, trusts, and estate administration. She highlights frequent pitfalls and compliance challenges with the aim to offer practical strategies to minimize tax risks and ensure proper estate planning and administration.
Speaker Bio
After working at several accounting firms for over 20 years, Kathy Logan established her accounting firm, Logan Accounting in 2015. She practices as a sole practitioner in Victoria, BC. In addition to the accounting and tax services she provides to her clients, a growing focus of her practice has been in the area of estate planning and estate administration. She is a board member of the Estate Planning Council of Canada, a member of the Estate Planning Council of Victoria and an active member of South Vancouver Island Public Practice Tax group. She has also been a guest speaker at the University of the Fraser Valley and the Estate Planning Council of Canada in recent years
