NOTICE OF ONLINE MEETING
DATE: Monday, April 28, 2026
TIME: 12:00-1:00pm
LOCATION: Zoom Video Conference
TOPIC: Manitoba Procurement and Trade Law Update 2026
SPEAKER: Andrew Konopelny, MLT Aikins LLP
Join us for a webinar on recent developments in Manitoba’s public procurement and trade law landscape, including an overview of Manitoba Bill 42 (Buy Canadian)and Bill 47 (The Fair Trade in Canada (Internal Trade Mutual Recognition) Act). The session will provide context on longstanding procurement and trade principles affecting Manitoba, explain where the rules have shifted, and identify areas where practice has largely remained the same. Specifically, the session will examine Manitoba’s growing emphasis on domestic sourcing and local economic development, alongside new rules that affect how public sector bodies design and run procurement processes.
Andrew Konopelny, a construction and infrastructure partner at MLT Aikins LLP, will share practical guidance on navigating procurement and trade considerations in this changing environment. Participants will leave with a practical understanding of Manitoba’s procurement and trade framework before and after these legislative changes, and what those changes mean for compliance, risk management, and day to day procurement decision making for businesses.
Please RSVP to the Manitoba Bar Association online (link above). The link to join the Zoom meeting will be sent out to all registrants on the morning of the meeting.
Attendance at this MBA Section meeting can be applied towards your Law Society of Manitoba's Continuing Professional Development requirement for a maximum of one hour.
