CCCA In-House Counsel Bootcamp 2021

Jan. 21 - Feb. 18, 2021
Online

Accelerate your skills with the CCCA’s intensive five-part In-House Counsel Bootcamp! Geared to new and aspiring in-house counsel and those looking for a refresher, our Bootcamp and its seasoned panelists have been a popular component of our National Conference for over a decade. However, given these unprecedented times and overwhelming demand for skills-based training, we are pleased to offer Bootcamp online, in collaboration with Lex Mundi and its Member Firms in Canada.

You can register for each module individually or take advantage of bundle pricing for all five modules and receive a certificate of completion. Better still, the modules can be completed live over a series of five weeks or on-demand to suit your busy schedule.

FUNDAMENTALS IN DRAFTING | January 21, 2021 | 12 noon to 1 pm ET
Drafting contracts, agreements and other corporate documents is a significant element of the in-house practice and a
function in-house counsel must master. This session’s panelists will take a practical approach, including reviewing the
common elements of a written contract, typical clauses you are likely to encounter, the pros and cons of boilerplate
and standard forms, jurisdictional issues, and other situations where your drafting skills may be put to good use.

HUMAN RESOURCES ESSENTIALS  | January 28, 2021 | 12 noon to 1 pm ET
Employment law is one of the most challenging areas for any legal department, consuming the majority
of time for many in-house counsel. This session’s panelists look at common employment law and HR situations,
examine critical areas of concern, and suggest strategies to help manage the HR function based on their experiences.

UNDERSTANDING CORPORATE GOVERNANCE | February 4, 2021 | 12 noon to 1 pm ET
Corporate governance is the framework of rules and relationships by which a corporation must abide and includes
internal processes as well as governmental regulations and stakeholder demands. It takes into account systems and
processes that deal with the daily working of the organization, reporting requirements, audit information and long-term plans. Corporate governance provides a roadmap, helping the leaders of an organization make decisions based
on the rule of law, and set realistic goals and methodologies for attaining those goals. Our panelists will help you get
a better understanding of where you fit into the big picture and how you can increase your value.

PRIVACY & COMPLIANCE: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW | February 11, 2021 | 12 noon to 1 pm ET
Many in-house counsel often have little exposure to privacy matters before joining a legal department, but privacy
compliance is an increasingly high-profile area in-house counsel are responsible for — even though it is not taught in
law school. This session’s panelists will lead you through strategies to help you comply with the law, stay on top of
developments, and avoid critical errors when it comes to the privacy rights of your clients, customers and employees
to ultimately keep your organization protected.

ETHICS PRIMER | February 18, 2021 | 12 noon to 1 pm ET
Your job is to provide legal opinions to your client. Are these opinions always protected by solicitor-client privilege,
and if not, why? What about the business advice you provide? Are you held to a duty of confidentiality with respect to
information you are privy to in providing your services? This session’s panelists will show you how to identify when
solicitor-client privilege applies and determine appropriate methods to preserve that privilege using scenarios
common in the in-house environment.
