The Shifting Landscape:  The Impact of the Pandemic on Standard of Care and Regulators
Sponsored by
Borden Ladner Gervais

The pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on health care across the country, putting stressors on the system and forcing new approaches to the deployment of limited resources. Health care practitioners and regulators alike have faced changes to scopes of practice, changes in registration requirements, vaccine and mask mandates and associated exemptions, and new issues arising out of misinformation.

Given what we have seen so far, experienced health law practitioners and regulators will discuss what we can expect as we transition through, and out of, the pandemic. They will look forward to risk mitigation as public health restrictions change as well as potential changes in health practice models. They will discuss how regulators are adapting to these pandemic-related practice changes, including new regulation needs and interjurisdictional issues arising out of provincial regulation. Finally, they will share practical advice for litigating pandemic-related civil claims.
