VIRTUAL MEETING via Zoom · FREE (Registration is required)
Grab your lunch and join us for our second Atlantic Roundtable Discussion.
In our third Atlantic Roundtable, we will discuss whether there is a duty of technological competency for our judicial system and the practice of law? The meeting will be held as an open forum to deliberate on the following three key issues relevant to our Atlantic provinces:
1. Whether all types of proceedings (courts, tribunals, boards, etc.) should return to in-person hearings? Or should the option of virtual hearings be reserved for less complex matters only?
2. Should the court, tribunal, and other resolution bodies discontinue the e-filing of court documents?
3. Will the use of technology in our judicial system create further access to justice in the "new normal" with income and digital divide?
The session will be an open forum and attendees will be encouraged to participate. Alternatively, we invite members who wish to attend but prefer to submit questions to us in advance to do so by May 25, 2022.
