OBA Environmental Law PROGRAM | 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM
This program is also part of the 2019-2020 Environmental Law Passport Series - Navigating Your Practice In Today's Choppy Waters: Understanding Recent Changes in Environmental Law.
The Made-In-Ontario Environment Plan has proposed changes to the way Ontario deals with waste management and recycling. Proposed changes include the winding up of various Ontario programs, and introduced new regulations to replace them with Individual Producer Responsibility. In this period of change, hear from experts in the area of waste management regulations and enforcement regarding what the obligations of stewards, producers and users look like today, and what producers and service providers need to know about these important changes.
Our experienced faculty will discuss and examine:
- Individual Producer Responsibility
- The role of the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA)
- What the status is of the Ontario stewardship programs – tires, batteries, electronic and electrical equipment, the Blue Box
- The status of new legislation and guidance from the Ontario government on waste and stewardship issues
