Recent shifts include increasing pressures on the Canada Revenue Agency and other tax authorities to identify and collect greater tax revenues, a continued push (from both taxpayers and courts) toward even more efficient and proportional judicial processes, and most recently, adjustments being made by stakeholders in light of the pandemic. Resolving tax disputes has become more challenging over the years, with recent events creating new obstacles for practitioners to successfully navigate the many steps and tools for resolving tax controversies. Our experienced panel will discuss current procedures for tax dispute resolution and litigation, and will share practical insights on managing and resolving tax disputes in these uncertain times.
