OBA Workers' Compensation PROGRAM | 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM (ET)
Since March, many employees have been working from home -- a situation that is likely to grow in prevalence, with some employers already looking to permanently continue remote work arrangements beyond the pandemic. However, what legal ramifications arise if a worker becomes ill or injured in the course of remote work? When will a worker be entitled to WSIB coverage in respect from a work-from-home injury? Our expert faculty will discuss the existing jurisprudence and how this might be interpreted in the current environment, including a discussion of chronic mental stress and COVID-19 claims relating to the "new normal" of remote work. Our panelists will explore strategies for what employers and workers can and should be doing to ensure a safe remote work environment.
