Legal Writing for International Trade Law Practitioners [WEBCAST ONLY]

Jun. 9, 2021
ON

OBA International Law PROGRAM | 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM (ET)

Written advocacy is an essential skill for all international trade law practitioners. Appearing before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) and other trade law adjudicative bodies presents unique advocacy challenges, particularly since legal arguments are often made within a framework of complex economic and data analyses.  A written brief must present these facts in a comprehensible and comprehensive way, while at the same time ensuring that legal positions are made effectively and persuasively.  Given the key role that written advocacy plays in international trade law, lawyers and students practicing in the trade law field benefit from continuously sharpening their drafting skills. Our stellar faculty, including the Chairperson of the CITT, will provide guidance on how to write in a strategic, focused and effective manner when making submissions before the CITT and other trade law forums, so that you can advocate more effectively for your clients!
