OBA Pensions AND Benefits Law & Family Law & Trusts and Estates Law PROGRAM
Original Program Date: February 23, 2021

Join us for a unique examination of the key issues that arise when pensions and benefits law intersects with both family law and trusts and estates law. Our roundtable discussion involving family law issues will focus on the division of pension benefits upon marriage breakdown including an update on the status of FSRA’s Technical Advisory Committee for Family Law Pension Matters. For the discussion on trusts and estates matters, our experienced faculty will examine the law in respect of beneficiary designations under plans (pension and non-pension benefit plans) with a focus on the recent decision of Calmusky. We will also look at best practice tips, common pitfalls, and recent cases and legislative developments that relate to both family law and trusts and estates law in the context of pensions and benefits law. Stay current while broadening your scope of practice with this unique and timely analysis of relevant issues in these interconnected practice areas.
