OBA Education Law PROGRAM | Original Program Date: May 5, 2022
Educators, parents and administrators are grappling with racism and systemic discrimination in Ontario’s schools and post-secondary institutions. Join us to examine the impact of anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism in education and to learn about best practices for transformative change. Get up to speed on recent legal developments, and hear about the pressing legal issues for your clients, including the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on Black and Indigenous communities, how parent advocacy can enhance legal protections for students, and steps that schools are taking to address these issues. Our expert panel will delve into these key legal issues as lawyers, parents and community members, and share valuable advice on the legal framework within which to challenge and dismantle racism and systemic oppression in education.
