OBA Education Law PROGRAM | Original Program Date: May 29, 2023

The introduction of the Safe Schools Act changed the landscape of how to address violence in schools. With the recent increase in incidents of school violence and a better understanding of the social effects of the Safe Schools Act, subsequent legislation and amendments on school communities, this program explores the lessons learned and evolution in how violence is addressed in schools today.

Our esteemed panelists will provide legal and practical insights for counsel assisting and representing students and school boards in matters involving school-based violence.  From navigating discipline processes to resources available for students and their families, this program will offer key information and tools on how to manage violence in a manner that acknowledges and mitigates the social inequities that inform many students’ experiences.
