OBA Case CENTER HANDS-ON Training CLASS | 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
With Case Center (formerly CaseLines) continuing to roll out in civil, family and criminal Superior Court matters across the province, ensure you have the knowledge you need to navigate the Case Center system with ease before your next hearing. Our accredited Case Center trainers will walk you through uploading and reviewing documents, and provide helpful advice to improve your proficiency in this new system. Plus, try it out yourself in our secure training environment with small group support to guide you through the process.
AGENDA
Part A: Document Preparation and Submission
This portion of the program will focus on how Ontario Courts would like you to upload and organization your documents. We will also explain how Case Center processes documents including the pagination, document structure and more. Not only will you learn how to move from a physical binder to a digital binder, but also how to create physical binders from the Case Center system that ensure Counsel can accurately direct Judges through materials in Court.
Who should attend? Anyone that is preparing and submitting documents to Case Center for use in Ontario Courts. This may include lawyers, legal assistants, paralegal staff, etc.
Part B: Presenting Case Center Documents in Court
This section of the program will look at how Case Center documents will be presented in Court. We will recap how Case Center pagination works, before diving into the presentation and guidance tools Case Center has to offer, including:
- How you can guide opposing Counsel, Witnesses, and the Judge through your materials
- Searching and locating pages and documents referenced by others during your hearing
- Private note tools that can be used to help you build your narrative and quickly pull up essential details
- Presenting multi-media materials such as video footage, interviews, and more
Who should attend? Litigators that will be presenting in court as well as any associate lawyers or staff that will be helping prepare materials and assist Counsel in advance of or at a hearing.
