Deanne Kasokeo is known as a tenacious fighter who protects her client’s interests and advocates for the best possible outcome on a wide range of issues that affect her clients. Deanne has been a practicing lawyer for over 15 years and has worked primarily for First Nations people assisting them with criminal law, family law, child protection, labour and employment law, wills and estates, governance and law making with First Nations. Ms. Kasokeo has also been legal counsel to three First Nations providing legal guidance and assisting with building institutions of good governance with First Nations and assisting on negotiations at the provincial and federal levels of government. Deanne has appeared before the Provincial Court, King’s Bench Court, and Federal Court, as well as the labour board, and in adjudication with the IAP Residential School files representing hundreds of clients across the Country.
Ms. Kasokeo is strong advocate for First Nations rights under Treaty and is a descendant of Mistahi Maskwa, Big Bear, leader of the River Cree and raised by a strong Matriarchy. She is a mother to four daughters Denika, Taylon, Gracie, Nipin and a grandmother to two granddaughters, Ariella and Sophia. She is also a dog mom to Moose, Maskwa, and Gus.
