High Tech Agribusiness: The Potential and Challenges of Using Drones and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
Drone technology has great potential for agriculture and farmers, agronomists and agribusiness companies are in the early stages of employing this technology to achieve financial savings and other benefits. This session will discuss today’s current regulatory environment impacting the use of drones and unmanned aerial vehicles in agribusiness and explore what might be on the horizon as Transport Canada is expected to update these regulation early next year.
The session panel will include:
Artur A Eberg
Mr. Eberg is an air law and business consultant who advises on international aviation regulatory affairs and aeronautical equipment cross-border transactions. A large part of his work deals with civil unmanned aircraft vehicles. He holds the position of Executive Consultant of the International Aerospace Law & Policy Group and is qualified by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as an instructor in air law and regulations.
Ayman Idlbi
Mr. Idlbi is a lawyer with Norton Rose Fulbright Canada who has a background in air and space law and brings particular expertise in drone technology from an intellectual property perspective (including patents and industrial design). He offers a keen understanding of the impact of drones on aviation safety and knowledge about product liability involving drones and the regulatory regime in different jurisdictions. He’s also built his own drone.
Alberta Producer
The panel will also include an Alberta producer who will share his experience with using drone technology to improve the efficiency of his agriculture operations and what some of the challenges he faces are.
