This meeting is being hosted by the Children's Law Section, in partnership with the Civil Litigation - Vancouver Section.

J. Scott Stanley of Murphy Battista LLP will be speaking about issues that impact a child or youth’s personal injury claim.  This presentation will provide an overview of these unique kinds of claims and will address a broad range of issues, including:

  • The effect of waivers and indemnities signed by a guardian 
  • Choice of litigation guardian
  • Limitation periods
  • Contributory negligence
  • Quantification
  • Settlement

Scott is a partner at Murphy Battista and represents accident victims and people who have claims against insurance companies, large corporations and professionals.  He frequently represents children and youth and has successfully prosecuted many claims against many different types of entities.
