The Adult Guardianship Act is a powerful tool that allows designated agencies in British Columbia to respond to reports of abuse, neglect and self-neglect of vulnerable adults.  A court application is deemed to be a last resort for the designated agencies however in certain situations, with or without the consent of the adult, it is a necessary remedy to protect an adult who is impaired in their ability to make decisions about the abuse or neglect.

Join guest speakers Amanda Brown, Director, ReAct Adult Protection, Vancouver Coastal Health; and lawyer Donna De Baie, Partner at Affleck Hrabinsky Burgoyne LLP for a refresher on the legislation for adult guardianship and adult protection issues, and to discuss the application of the Adult Guardianship Act in recent cases in the court of BC.
