Synopsis
Dan Hiebert is a Professor of Geography at UBC who specializes in issues of public policy. Professor Hiebert’s research interests focus on immigration policy, the integration of newcomers into the housing and labour markets of Canadian cities, and the consequences of the growing “superdiversity” of Canadian society. Professor Hiebert has recently been involved in creating a new website that is the end product of gathering masses of data from IRCC, Statistics Canada, as well as government sources in Australia and New Zealand. The website is an effort to show how migration is changing the urban landscape of Vancouver, Sydney and Auckland, and is intended to engage the wider public on these issues, as well as to provide organizations, community members and other stakeholders with data.
