Synopsis
On September 10, 2020, Justice Steeve dismissed the Cambie Surgeries Corporation and other plaintiffs claim against the Attorney General of British Columbia that provisions of the Province's Medicare Protection Act violated sections 7 and 15 of the Charter. An appeal of the decison is currently before the BC Court of Appeal and the matter may ultimately be decided by the Supreme Court of Canada. Robert Grant Q.C., counsel for Cambie Surgeries, will explain what the case is about, provide their insights on the decision, and discuss their differing perspectives on this important constitutional law case.
