Synopsis
The B.C. Ministry of Finance will present an overview of recent amendments to the Business Corporations Act that requires non-public BC companies to keep a “transparency register”, or list of beneficial owners. The Ministry will provide guidance on the meaning of certain key terms in the new legislation, including “indirect control” and “direct and significant influence”.

The presentation will also canvass applicable exclusions from the requirement to keep a transparency register and, time permitting, key differences between the provisions of these BCBCA requirements and the applicable CBCA rules that recently came into force.
