ONLINE MEETING: Long-Term Care in the Time of COVID-19 - From Frontlines to Reform
This meeting is being hosted by the Elder Law Section.

Speaker(s): Laura Tamblyn Watts, CEO, CanAge
Time: Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 4:15pm - 5:15pm (PT)
CPD Hours: 1.00 hour
Synopsis

This dynamic and interactive presentation will cover the crisis in long-term care in the time of COVID19 across the country. It will review the steps taken in long-term (residential) care in BC, starting with Lynn Valley, then compare it to how the COVID19 crisis rolled out across the country. The presentation will cover the range of the crisis - from "how did we get here", to "where are we now" and "how can we fix long-term care in future". Practical steps for reform will be discussed, as well as exploring federal / provincial alignment, commissions or enquiries.

Laura Tamblyn Watts is the CEO of CanAge, Canada’s national seniors’ advocacy organization. Her work focuses on aging, inclusion, consumer rights and social justice. She has previously served as Chief Public Policy Officer at the Canadian Association of Retired Persons, and in a number of positions at the Canadian Centre for Elder Law.
