For family lawyers in BC, the new Divorce Act will look familiar.  The language and provisions are similar to those of the Family Law Act.  Join David Dundee, Chair of the Family Law - Kamloops Section, to explore the similarities - and differences – and discuss a few provisions that will likely need clarification by the courts.  Lastly, we will review:

  • How they might work together - or not;
  • What the one act does the other cannot;
  • How to ameliorate some of those differences; and
  • Factors for choosing one over the other, when you have a choice.

Territorial Acknowledgement
This event will be broadcast from the traditional and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples, including Tsleil-Waututh, Squamish and Musqueam First Nations.
