This meeting is being hosted by the International Law and Young Lawyers - Lower Mainland Sections.

Synopsis
Join us for an afternoon panel discussion to hear about the career experiences of international law practitioners from various fields. Our speakers will give you their insights on why they chose to pursue international law, the path they followed, as well as highlights and pitfalls of their careers.

Law Students & Junior Lawyers - Don't miss out on their advice! The remainder of the session would be Q&A and mingling.

Light refreshments will be provided. 
Speaker Bio
Ryan Dawodharry practices at the Department of Justice in the Criminal Law and International Assistance Group (CLIA). Depending on the day, his work varies between extraditions, mutual legal assistance requests from international treaty partners and issues of privilege and public safety as they arise on organized crime prosecutions. Ryan articled at the DOJ in 2013 and has represented federal client departments in civil and criminal matters in all levels of court, both federal and provincial.

Alexandra Mitretodis is a senior associate at Fasken in the litigation and dispute resolution group. Alex’s practice is focused in class actions, commercial litigation, and both domestic and international arbitration. Alexandra works on large complex files that often have a multi-jurisdictional or international dimensions.

Melissa McKay is an international criminal and human rights lawyer, focused on the integration of feminist legal theory and international law to better address sexual and gender-based violence in conflict and transitioning societies. Melissa has worked at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, as well as on issues of constitutional law and gender equality in Nepal, Rwanda, and the Philippines. Melissa will rejoin the Office of the International Co-Prosecutor at the ECCC in April 2020.
