Synopsis

Come join fellow young lawyers and articled students for a round table discussion on salary negotiations: what works; what doesn't; and, what you need to know!

While the format of the evening will be casual, some of the topics we hope to discuss include:

  •  Preliminary results of the salary survey;
  •  Compensation structures;
  •  Non-remunerative aspects of compensation (parking, RSP matching, health benefits, work/life balance);
  •  Anatomy of a salary negotiation: what you need to know going into the negotiation;
  •  Negotiating at different stages of practice, e.g.

        a. Articled student salary (can you/should you?)
        b. 1st year associate salary
        c. Annual compensation increases years 2-5
        d. Lateral moves

The cost of the evening is $5.00, which will go to the room rental fee. Dinner and refreshments will be á la carte.

We look forward to a lively and informative discussion!
