For most students, taking the next big step from Law Student to Articling Student can be daunting. In this session, students learn tips and tricks to get ahead in the workplace, maximize their articling experience, and start their legal career on the
right path.
 

ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS


Connor Bildfell 
Connor Bildfell is an associate in McCarthy Tétrault LLP’s Litigation Group in Vancouver. His practice focuses on corporate/commercial, class action, privacy, and public law disputes. He has represented clients in private arbitrations and before courts at all levels, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Before becoming an associate, he articled at McCarthy Tétrault and clerked at the B.C. Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. He received his J.D. degree from the University of British Columbia in 2016, graduating as the gold medallist.
 



Jeanie Smith
Jeanie is litigation counsel with the Department of Justice in their aboriginal law section and has been in this role since 2019. She graduated from the University of Victoria in 2016 and articled at Cook Roberts LLP in Victoria and worked on general litigation matters in the areas of employment, family law, estate litigation and human rights. Prior to joining the Department of Justice, Jeanie worked at a large insurance defence firm in Vancouver.
 



Andrew Tang
Andrew Tang is an associate at Harper Grey LLP, having articled with the firm in 2017–2018. He currently practices in the areas of health, professional regulation, and securities law.
