On August 15, 2022, the Supreme Court of British Columbia will launch the Masters Chambers Pilot to allow electronic submission of application records through Court Services Online for regular chambers. In the first phase, the Pilot will be available for matters 30 minutes or less at Vancouver Island registries.

In this webinar, Master Muir of the Supreme Court and members of Court Services Branch will talk about document standards, demonstrate use of the CSO platform for filing application records, and answer your questions.

Master Muir
Master Muir was appointed master of the Supreme Court of British Columbia and took her seat in Vancouver, effective May 7, 2012. Before Master Muir's appointment, she was counsel at Holmes & King in Vancouver. She received a law degree at the University of British Columbia and has been practising in this province for almost 30 years. Her career has focused on civil litigation, including commercial litigation, family law and divorce. She has experience in probate, foreclosure and bankruptcy law. Muir was selected for inclusion in the 2011 Best Lawyers in Canada list in the area of legal malpractice law.

Patricia White
Patricia White is an Information Management Business Analyst with the Strategic Information and Business Application section of Court Services Headquarters. Pat is the Court Services Online website (CSO) Product Manager and interacts with a variety of stakeholder groups to enhance and provision  ongoing support for users of CSO.  Previously, Pat worked in a variety of positions in the court registry environment.

Hazel Lew
Hazel Lew is a Business Analyst with 20+ years of experience in the justice sector. She previously worked for Court Services Branch for 16 years and for the past 8 years has worked on projects for Court Services, the Provincial Court and currently the Supreme Court of BC. Hazel has a passion for business and innovative technology projects that enable court staff and the judiciary to do their work more efficiently and effectively, which ultimately provides increased access to justice for the citizens of BC.

Brenda Belak
Brenda Belak has been legal counsel at the Supreme Court of British Columbia since 2017. She received her law degree at UBC and clerked at the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Before joining the Court, she practiced at Ratcliff & Co., West Coast Environmental Law, and Pivot Legal Society. She also worked on the Study Commission of the Missing Women Commission of Inquiry and represented a coalition of over 100 community organizations as the lead drafter of a law on violence against women in Myanmar (Burma). From 2016 to 2017 she was a member of the Advisory Council on the Federal Strategy Against Gender-based Violence.



This webinar is hosted by the Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch, located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples, including the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh and Musqueam First Nations.
