This meeting is being hosted by the Wills & Trusts - Victoria Section

Speaker(s): Christa Ovenell, Death’s Apprentice Education & Planning
Time: Wednesday, June 15, 2022, 12:30pm - 1:30pm (PT)
CPD Hours: 1.00 hour
Synopsis

A lot of us prioritize environmentally conscious decisions throughout our lives, but know little about the options available to us after death. During this info-packed hour, Christa Ovenell of Death’s Apprentice Education & Planning will walk us through what it means to really “go green”. Christa will explain the basics of disposition in BC and lead us through an exploration of green options currently available in our jurisdiction. Christa will conclude by dismantling some common end-of-life misconceptions and look ahead to innovative technologies that could literally change the landscape of cemeteries.

Christa Ovenell is the founder of Death’s Apprentice Education and Planning, a company that specializes in holistic advance care planning for individuals and forward-thinking companies. Christa is a licensed funeral director and embalmer, as well as an end-of-life doula, community death educator and columnist on CBC Radio’s province-wide weekend morning show "North by Northwest”. Christa takes a heart-centred, pragmatic approach to difficult topics, helping people get comfortable thinking about, talking about, and planning for life’s only certainty.
