Synopsis

In a time when the costs of housing, medical expenses and the desire to stay at home, feature significant in an elderly client’s life, families are taking more and more of a role in caring for their elderly relatives and those elderly relatives are wanting to contribute financially. In many cases, these arrangements are not formally documented and as such create misunderstandings, fracture families and could result in expensive and time consuming litigation.

Care Agreements are formal contracts between family members in respect of where an elderly person may live and what assistance will be provided by a family member and for what consideration.

Edward F. Macaulay, Edward F Macaulay Law Corp., will present a review of the law in respect of Care Agreements and what a legal practitioner who is working with elderly clients and their families should be aware and what to look for.
