Synopsis
The one thing certain about a criminal trial: there will be witnesses. With that certainty, comes the uncertainty of what the witnesses will say, and whether they will prove beneficial or harmful to your case.
Join us in Vancouver to hear our panels of experienced judges and counsel give you advice on how to prepare, lead and cross-examine witnesses in bail hearings, preliminary inquiries and the trial itself. Learn how to deal with those witnesses likely to cause real difficulties in your case including the recanting witness, the Vetrovec witness, the vulnerable witness, the police and the accused. As usual, we will lead off with our very popular visual fact scenario raising issues that will be addressed by the panels throughout the day.
And this year, we are privileged to have Justice Sheilah Martin join our program as a keynote speaker and panelist.
As well as covering substantive and procedural law, each session will have a segment devoted to professional ethics and/or practice management. We hope to see you there.
