Synopsis
The paperless practice sounds efficient and environmentally friendly, but when your practice is predominately run by paper, how do you make the conversion? What software do you choose? Do you do it all at once, or slowly over time?

These are the questions that many lawyers, of all years of call, are faced with in today's modern law firm. Both Neil Carfra and Darren Williams operate paperless, or mostly paperless, practices and are willing to share their experiences, and tips and tricks on the best way to make the conversion and how to operate and manage a successful paperless practice.

This will be an informal discussion with time for questions. Members are encouraged to bring their lunch to eat in the Barristers Lounge.

Speaker Profile
Neil Carfra joined Cox Taylor in January 2019.  He obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the University of British Columbia in 1993 and has been practicing throughout BC and Alberta from Victoria since 1994.  Neil is an industry leading lawyer focusing on Insurance Law and commercial and general litigation.

Darren Williams has a proven track record of service and dedication to his clients, winning cases at every level of court in Canada, including the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal and Federal Court, as well as the British Columbia Appeal, Supreme and Provincial Courts, and various federal and provincial boards and tribunals, Darren .

Darren prefers injury, wills/estates and transportation/marine litigation, but is passionate about helping those who have been treated unfairly in a variety of circumstances.  Darren regularly volunteers his time to pro bono representation of disadvantaged people, and legal education causes.  Darren is grateful to his family for supporting him in his efforts to help his clients.

Prior to being called to the bar in 2001, Darren Williams spent considerable time working in the commercial fishing industry accruing over 1,000 days at sea along the BC coast.  He graduated from Brentwood College in 1991 and attended the University of Victoria, earning a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Psychology in 1996 and a Juris Doctor in 2000.
