Canadian Sports Law: Opportunities and Challenges
An internationally-experienced panel of Canadian sports law practitioners will provide an introduction to the exciting and multi-faceted discipline of sports law, identifying some of its key challenges and opportunities. Learn about the workings of national and international governing bodies, various dispute resolution tribunals including the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada (“SDRCC”) and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (“CAS”) and their handling of a variety of disputes ranging from selection cases to anti-doping disputes to safe sports issues. Hear from an arbitrator/legal counsel who specialises in international sport law, a mediator/investigator, a leader from our national sport dispute resolution center, (one of Marie-Claude Asselin/Alexandra Lojen- SDRCC) and a lawyer, who practices as an advocate in sports law and other more traditional legal specialties.
