At some point in your life, you will likely need to engage in a sensitive conversation with your employer or a tough conversation with a colleague or client. The art of difficult conversations can be mastered by learning how to shift your focus away from what could go wrong and towards a more positive outcome. This session will provide you with a solutions-focused framework for initiating or responding to difficult conversations.
Participants will be encouraged to share real "tough conversations" they are currently facing, including but not limited to issues arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Learning objectives:
- Understand how to set the stage, listen deeply, ask powerful questions, and speak with clarity
- Recognize different communication styles and how to adjust your own style accordingly
- Identify hot button issues and strategies for staying calm in the face of conflict
