In this adaptation of the award-winning two-woman play by Amy Nostbakken and Norah Sadava, filmmaker Patricia Rozema tells the story of an aspiring writer attempting to find her voice and reconcile her feminism with the conformist choices of her mother following her sudden death. Throughout the film, two performers express the inner conflict that exists within one modern woman’s head: the push and the pull, the past and the present, the progress and the regression.
