OBA Child & Youth Law & Education Law PROGRAM | 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM (ET)

This program is also part of a five-part series - Ethical and Practical Considerations When Working With and For Young People

The landscape of services that are available to Indigenous children and youth continues to evolve.  How does this impact your legal options when advocating for Indigenous children and youth?  Our expert faculty will share helpful insights and practical advice on a wide range of issues, including:

  • Recommendations from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and how it relates to Indigenous children and youth;
  • Specific provisions under the Child, Youth & Family Services Act affecting Indigenous children and youth and special considerations for Indigenous young people charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act;
  • An update on An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families; and the process of self-governance
  • Advocacy for Indigenous education and school boards

Ensure that you are up to speed on latest legal provisions and developments on the ground impacting Indigenous children and youth rights.
