OBA Aboriginal Law PROGRAM | 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM (EDT)

Enforcing First Nation by-laws made under Section 81 of the Indian Act has always been challenging, and is often a major hurdle to enhancing First Nations’ governance. Recently, the Public Prosecutions Service of Canada announced a limited policy, that will see it start to enforce certain Section 81 by-laws related to the COVID-19 pandemic, where First Nations enter into protocol agreements with their local police service.

Join us to learn more about these protocol agreements, how the new policy has been implemented, and key considerations for making use of the opportunity at this practical event.
