OBA Environmental Law PROGRAM | 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM
This program is also part of the 2019-2020 Environmental Law Passport Series - Navigating Your Practice In Today's Choppy Waters: Understanding Recent Changes in Environmental Law.
While Ontario works on its own climate change and greenhouse gas legislation, the federal Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act governs carbon producers and fuel importers and users in Ontario. Regulatory uncertainty surrounding climate change is driving organizations towards voluntary environmental, social, and governance (ESG) disclosures and reporting as accountability measures to investors and other stakeholders. Hear from our speakers about your client’s climate change obligations under the federal regime and disclosure risks and what to expect from Ontario in the coming year.
Topics to be discussed will include:
- The Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act challenge and a provincial update
- Reporting and disclosure on climate change risk and Environmental, Social and Governance criteria
- Sustainability strategies and standards
